Hello all you Ravelers and Wordless Wednesday folk! I’m so glad to see you here, and I love the comments that are coming in. Comments make me a happy Kristin. You know what else makes for a happy Kristin? Giveaways and random acts of kindness. In a giveaway over at WoolGathered, I was quite pleased to see that I’d won one of her Pay it Forward giveaways. Here’s the deal.
- You leave a comment on this entry telling me something that makes you happy.
- On Friday, Feb. 13th, I’ll randomly choose three commenters and provide them with some sort of hand-made creation. It could be something knit, photographed, baked, entirely up to my discretion, though you’re welcome to make suggestions. You should receive your item by the end of 2009 at the latest. (Some things take time!)
- Since this is a Pay it Forward giveaway, the deal is that the winners (and anyone else who wants to) should then provide the same deal on their blog/website/life (I know not all my readers have blogs…)
Sound good to you? Then please enter, and help spread the love.
**Edited: The contest is now closed! Thanks for entering!**
You notice I also mentioned random acts of kindness. Just before I left for Sacramento (which you’ll hear more about later, I’m sure), I received a package in the mail from a very kind Raveler with my very first sock yarn and appropriately-sized needles. I’m eager to start my first pair of socks that aren’t acrylic, worsted weight, and too small. They’ll take some time to do on these small needles, but it’ll be fun, and more portable than my sweater, soon enough. Isn’t the yarn pretty? Thanks so much!

What makes me happy…
Blog updates from my sister.
Days off.
Sunshine.
Among other things..
What makes me happy is to see a little giving paid forward. Thank you for this. I shall be in touch shortly.
what makes me happy is meeting the Veterans at the World War 2 memorial in DC. God Bless them and ALL of our veterans.
What makes me happy? My family, my friends, my dog, a sunny day, the snow falling (and the snow melting), lazy summer days, a roaring in a fireplace, a good book and a glass of sherry, a smile from a stranger, good dark chocolate, Ravelry
What makes me happy?
Today, seeing my friend, MJ, who has lately endured 4 rounds of chemo, out and about again with hair even.
Kind gestures such as this one, pay it forward and I shall.
What makes me happy is the privilege of helping give away 1800 gift bags to the Ngobe-Bugle Indian children in Panama.
What makes me happy? I do. We each choose our attitudes and that, in turn, determines how we feel. It is the last freedom we have, when all else is taken or threatened.
Happiness is sitting on my favorite loveseat with my feet propped up, a cat in my lap, knitting in my hands, and a Pepsi on the side table.
When my 6 year old Giddy who has Down syndrome learns something new. Nothing comes easy for him and every little accomplishment makes us feel sooo pleased!
This sounds like so much fun!
The little things make me the happiest. Like when someone holds the door open for you instead of, you know, pushing you out of the way. Or, the stranger infront of you in line pays for your coffee. Or just someone smiling at you and showing some nice human contact instead of a scowl as you walk by.
Coming home from work a few days ago to find my kids, with music blasting, dancing their hearts out.
Knitting!
Good wine, good chocolate, time to watch a movie with my husband.
Happiness is… waking up and rolling over and seeing two beautiful eyes staring into mine and whispering ‘I love you Mommy!’ then the big burly man arm coming around her and squeezing us all together in a big family hug..
Then, to step outside the room and have my little dog do the wigglebutt ‘I’m happy you’re up.. feed me.. i love you.. feed me!’ and the bigger puppy doing her basketball jones impression when she jumps up to show that she’s also hungry, yet very happy to see me, too..
I’m just generally happy that I’m alive most days.. A positive outlook makes for a pleasant day!
I am certain to pay it forward because that always makes me happy
I like:
Quite days knitting while watching cartoons with my kids all snuggles up on the couch with me…..beautiful days at the park with the kids. Sleeping in, snow, mountians, old pictures.
Sending boxes to friends, secretly!
And knitting things (mostly socks) for my boys and family.
Thanks for giving us a reason to sit and think about all the things that make us happy!
What a cool idea! I may do it whether or not I win!
Things that make me happy — watching ferrets play, seeing a mother ferret with her babies, my partner’s face, knowing I’ve made a difference in someone’s life, baking bread, knitting, the smell of laundry hung outside to dry, an Ohio sunset, the reaction when a swap partner sees what I’ve sent them, enough cash in my pocket to buy decent yarn.
What makes me happy:
A childs laughter
Flowers
Animals playing
Pay it forward. I love the concept. Than you for inviting us.
My cats. Rubbing their furry bellies or squeezing them with love until they mew in protest always, 100%, without fail, makes me happy.
HA! I love Friday the 13th! That’s the day I got engaged and, 2years later, the day my daughter was born.
Something else that makes me happy is a nice cup of tea and a few minutes of silence on very cold days. It is like a rare beautiful flower of a moment.
Of course, big squishy baby hugs and slobbery kisses have their perks, too ^__^
What makes me happy –
A warm dog to tuck my feet under at night.
That my cats picked my son to love the best.
Buds on trees in late winter, and blue skies.
Squirrels.
Books. Beaches. Books on beaches.
Kind deeds. Thank you for your blog.
Sunny days that aren’t too hot. Rainy days that aren’t too cold. Finding a forgotten $20 in the pocket of your coat. My husband & pets. Knitting. Spinning (with a spinning wheel, I don’t mean turning in place, ha ha!). Finishing a project & starting a new one. Reading a really good book. Iced coffee. Watching dogs playing at Dog Beach. Getting a sharp bird photo, especially if it’s a species I haven’t seen before. Watching “Survivor” & calling my sister to discuss the show during the commercials. Getting a letter from an old friend. Getting a back rub. Giving a back rub. The look on my husband’s face when I massage his feet. Coming home from work and discovering that someone did the vacuuming for me. Christmas carols, any time of year. Halloween. Pepperoni & mushroom pizza with hot sauce. Getting comments on Ravelry or my blog. Rubbing the dog’s back until her tail wags like crazy. Rubbing the cat’s head until he purrs like mad. A day at the park.
Sorry, guess I got a little carried away there!
Sharing an experience and then finding out by accident, it has helped someone else immensely.
What makes me happy?
Sunlight, snow storms, paint, yarn, baths
and, of course, chocolate.
Sorry, couldn’t resist the haiku!
