So Cold.

Winter Kristin

This is how I’ve been going outside for the last two days. It’s been below zero before windchill, and it felt like -29º F with the wind chill when I walked the dog. Ugh. I feel so bad for Anya. She is so excited to go on her walk, but shortly after we get outside, she gets snow stuck in her paw and starts limping, so I have to clean it out or carry her for a little to warm up her paws. I don’t think she’ll wear booties, but I made one anyway. She let me put it on while she was incredibly sleepy, but it’s not going to happen when she’s excited.

On the other hand, I’ve been managing to stay reasonably warm. Stretch pants under jeans, thick socks and good shoes. Long sleeve shirts with a hooded sweatshirt. Then I have a hat, a scarf wrapped around my neck twice, the hood from my sweatshirt over those, and then the hood from my calf-length down coat. Pretty toasty. The only problem with this is visibility. All the hoods siginificantly cut down on my peripheral vision, and the scarf makes my breath fog up my glasses. Can’t see terribly well, but all the lights have pretty rings around them. :)

Anyway, I hope it’s warmer where you are, and I hope this arctic air mass dissipates soon.

  1. LOL! No wonder you thought our snow was a light dusting.

We would not have been able to stay in our RV in your temps. ;)

I can promise you it will be warmer in Sacramento! *grin*

  2. Linda – I’m definitely looking forward to Sacramento, and the temperatures better be higher! They’re warming up here, too, albeit slowly. I hear we’ll be above freezing one of these days. :)

  3. great post I love the pictures:]

  4. Thanks for stopping by cici! I liked this picture a lot too – but it makes me cold just looking at it.
