 Dad, Liz, I'm so glad you participated in the festivities. You have no idea how much I bragged about that at the office. :)

Linda - some days I feel like I'm not a physicist either, and then I really want some pie! Sadly, I didn't actually eat any on pi day. :(

Added to the astute oberservations of the esteemed authors above, this author would also like to bring attention to the statistically important correllation of this calendar date with a specific number and its unique relationship to a complex pastry. Adding to the importance of the day, ie Einstein and pi, is the method by which the physicists are called to celebrate. The variations of celebration are numerous but its method remains constant. Be it apple, french silk or lemon, or any of its variatels, this day cannot be fully explored without proper consideration of the celebratory dessert functions!

Based on my own, albeit anecdotal, observations, I confirm your preliminary observations on the technical description of the current terra rotational phase. I must hasten to point out, however, that while we celebrate the transcendental number n, the margin of error in 3/14 is such that an observer would be well advised to conduct further research to increase the number of significant digits, thereby reducing the margin of error in any calculations in which said number is used.

This author must also commend Lewis, et al., for their efforts to cause the author's auricularis and buccinator muscles to elevate laterally, thereby also improving this author's temperament. As with Lewis, et al., however, these data are indeed compromised by the synergistic effects of an increase in ambient temperature and exposure to solar radiation, certain concentrations of caffeine, and pending ambulation toward more southerly latitudes (estimated to be 28-30 degrees north).
